Brake Trouble Signs That Need Attention ASAP

It’s always important to take the signs of brake problems seriously. You do not want to get stuck in a situation where you cannot stop your automobile when you need to. Bird Automotive can inspect your brake system if you experience any of the problems below. It’s important to get your vehicle to our shop as soon as possible.

Abnormal Sounds

When you apply the brakes, you shouldn’t hear any noise. If you hear grinding or squealing, your brake pad surface might be worn down completely or your brakes could be overheating. Your brakes may also squeak if the brake pad surface is low or when the brakes are wet.

Brake Fluid Leaks

One thing that can moisten the brake pads is a brake fluid leak. The problem with brake fluid leaking out of the system is that this hydraulic fluid helps stop your automobile. If the fluid gets low, you may not be able to get your vehicle slowed down and stopped.

Dashboard Warning

Your brake light will come on when you first turn on your automobile and when you set the parking brake. It shouldn’t come on at any other time, nor should your ABS light. If either of these lights come on, you have a problem with the brake system.

Hot Brake Smells

Aside from squealing, another sign that your brakes are overheating is a hot chemical smell or a burning carpet smell. This combination makes driving your vehicle dangerous, as overheated brakes will fail once they get too hot.

Soft Brake Pedal

Your brake pedal should feel the same every time you use it. It shouldn’t feel soft nor should it sink to the bottom of the floor. If you notice a change in the resistance of your brake pedal, you might have master cylinder failure or a problem in the brake lines such as air.

Wobbly Brake Pedal

Your brake pedal might also wobble or vibrate if your rotors are uneven or you have a problem with the calipers. In some cases, the steering wheel will also vibrate when you apply the brakes. This is not normal, and it should be investigated as soon as possible to avoid additional brake problems.
