Let Bird Automotive Help You Keep Your Tires and Wheels in Excellent Condition

We cannot overstate the importance of keeping your tires and wheels in excellent condition. This helps you control your automobile easily. It also helps prevent the danger of a tire blowing out. You could lose control of your car, truck, or utility vehicle if a tire blows out. There are things that you can do to make sure everything is okay with your tires. And there are things that we can do here at Bird Automotive that will help ensure the tires and wheels remain in the best condition possible. Let’s talk more about this below.

Pressure Check

Take a few moments every two weeks or once a month to test the air pressure in each tire to make sure it is at the recommended PSI. If any of the tires are below the recommended rating, add air to them so they are at the recommended PSI. Make sure to only inflate the tires up to the manufacturer’s recommendation. Do not add extra air to the tires. This can damage them internally and externally.

Inspect the Tires

You can also take a few moments once a month to inspect your tires to make sure they look okay. The things you should look for include uneven tire tread wear, cracked sidewalls, or bubbling. If any of the tires look strange, bring your vehicle to our shop right away so we can inspect the tire to determine why it is getting damaged. There could be a problem with the tire on that wheel or the wheel itself.

Rotate the Tires

One of the things that prevents uneven tread wear and extends the life of your tires is regular rotations. You should bring your car, truck, or utility vehicle to our shop every 5,000 miles so we can rotate the tires. Rotating the tires puts them on different wheels and this changes the road pressure and brake system pressure on the tires. In other words, it prevents them from wearing down in one spot only.

Balance the Wheels

We will also balance the wheels to make certain you do not have an even wheel weight across your vehicle’s axles. When this happens, the wheels will vibrate as you drive faster. Consequently, this vibrating motion will chew away at the tire tread on each tire.

Align the Wheels

Finally, it is also important to have the wheels aligned when they need it. Signs that your wheels are out of alignment include your automobile drifting to the side when you are driving straight and an uneven steering wheel logo when the wheels are pointed straight.
